Hey everyone!
I’m excited to bring you the latest development update for Old Mana Game! Over the past few weeks, we’ve made significant strides, both in refining gameplay and expanding our reach. Here’s a look at what’s been happening behind the scenes:
1. Comprehensive Card Database
We’ve officially consolidated all playtesting prototypes into a new card database. This includes every playable card currently in testing, serving as the foundation for future updates and improvements.
That said, some card effects are temporary placeholders to test mechanics and balance. In some cases, these placeholders may resemble mechanics found in other games. We’re transparent about this, as it’s part of our iterative process to refine and develop unique mechanics for Old Mana Game. These elements are constantly evolving through playtesting to ensure they fit seamlessly into our vision for the game.
2. Card Redesigns and Expansions
We’ve been hard at work redesigning several cards to enhance their functionality and visual appeal. A notable highlight is the expansion of the Dragon race. Dragons now form a broader and more powerful neutral category, adding new strategic possibilities to deck-building. Expect to see more mighty Dragons in upcoming updates!
3. Prototype Testing
I’m currently awaiting the arrival of new prototypes from overseas. While these aren’t from our final suppliers, they’re crucial for testing the aspect ratio, design layout, and overall quality before committing to a larger order. It’s all about ensuring every detail is perfect for the next big production run.
4. Social Media Growth
We’ve seen incredible growth on social media over the past five weeks:
• Nearly 600 followers on Instagram
• A reach of over 100,000 people
• The Kickstarter waitlist is growing daily
This momentum has been inspiring, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who’s joined the journey so far. While Discord is still relatively quiet with around 30 members, I plan to become more active there. As the hub for discussions and community events, it’s a vital platform I’m excited to nurture further.
5. Local Playtesting Events
I’m also in talks with local hobby stores to organize weekly playtesting events. While the details are still being finalized, I’m optimistic about creating a regular opportunity for players to experience the game in person. Stay tuned for more information as plans solidify.
Taking a Step Back
While the progress so far has been rapid and rewarding, I’ve decided to slow down the pace just slightly. We’ve come so far so quickly, and taking a moment to focus on refinement and quality feels like the right move.
Thank you all for your continued support! This journey wouldn’t be the same without you. From the growing community to the ongoing development, every step is an adventure I’m thrilled to share with you.
Cheers,
INDI
